We first started a wholesale nursery in 1989 in the Jenny Lind area selling to local retail nurseries here and in the Bay Area.  We saw a need and opened the retail nursery started in March of 1997.  For five years, we leased property 1/2 mile east of our present location then in 2002 we relocated to our present spot.  The property has a total of 9 acres which we are slowly developing.  At present, the wholesale nursery is now the growing grounds for the retail nursery.

     The owner (Don Urbanus) started out gardening when he was a kid and it turned into a vocation. (No - I didn't misspell vacation).  He got a Certificate in Environmental Horticulture at a junior college in San Mateo and then got a Bachelors Degree in Ornamental Horticulture at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.  He has worked at various other wholesale nurseries and a maintenance company in the Bay Area before starting a small wholesale nursery in Morgan Hill.  After a wakeup call (an earthquake and a cracked dam), he and his wife Jerry (nicknamed Kiko) decided they didn't want to live below a dam that had a major fault running right through it.  After much searching, they found the perfect place to start a nursery with a great climate, not too far from the ocean and closer to the mountains.  Don's parents had a cabin in Arnold since the early 60's so it was just like coming home.  Don shares his home (that he built with his wife) with Kiko, his daughter Erin, and numerous chickens, a dog, cats, horses, fish and Guinea Pigs.
